The City of London is indeed a borough, and a City as well. It is, strictly, the only bit that is truly "London". "Greater London" comprises the boroughs of the City, plus the surrounding boroughs. However, the term "Greater London" is only used in formal contexts. In conversation "London" is generally taken to mean the City, and the boroughs of Westminster (also a City); Camden; Lewisham; Wandsworth; Kensington; Hammersmith; Hackney; Islington; Lambeth; Newham; Southwark; & Tower Hamlets.

The "Commuter belt" is a far more nebulous thing – it is not clearly defined, but it certainly goes way beyond Greater London! All the places you list are part of the commuter belt; but sufficient London workers live in places like Southampton; Brighton; Dover; Southend; Colchester; Peterborough; Swindon to enable those places to be considered within the commuter belt, too.

That is interesting Niels that we have similar tastes. But I don't know how you couldn't like my mislabled Clematis. She isn't “Snow Queen” but she has her own sweet charm. The name “Obedient Plant” is kind of ironic, but the research I did stated the name was given because you bend the stems gently to shape them and they will stay. I think the magenta variety is striking.
